Prime Minister supports Bongiorno Group initiative.
On Thursday 11th November, the Bongiorno Group hosted a charity event at the National Gallery of Victoria.The event was to support ‘Small Steps’, a not for profit organisation. Small Steps helps impoverished children living in rubbish dumps around the world, take small steps out of poverty, by providing them with shoes.In order to raise money for the event, celebrity shoes were auctioned off. The support the Bongiorno Group received was unbelievable, with shoes being donated by Matt Moran, Matt Preston, Megan Gale, Jennifer Hawkins, Simon Gerrans, Ricky Ponting, Garth Tander, Lee Freedman, Li Cunxin (Mao’s Last Dancer), Jessica Watson, Archie Thompson, Chris Bartram, Natalie Gruzlewski, Leona Edmiston, Adam Gilchrist and of course the Prime Minister Julia Gillard.
The event raised over $13,500 which will provide 5,000 children with a new pair of shoes.
